“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Welcome to the blog of artist M. Amanda Van Ast of Wallaby Damned Studio.
In this life - this moment, what we perceive as our reality - we often forget to embrace and learn from what the journey is trying to show us. For me, making art isn’t typically about my vision. It’s about the process of creating a piece of artwork and allowing it to form its own identity, to tell it’s own story. It’s about creating a conversation amongst viewers. The work I create is typically a reflection of that journey, and a celebration of revealing the nomad in all of us. While I prefer to use clay, metal, and found objects in my work, I enjoy being open to any and all materials that will successfully convey a concept.
